Who we are:
The Rumson First Aid Squad was established in 1949.
We are volunteers who are also Rumson residents and your neighbors. We've been providing this volunteer service for over 65 years.
In the last 3 years we have responded to approximately 1,080 calls. We provide this service free of charge and Rumson First Aid
Squad does not bill you for our services.
When a resident or visitor of Rumson calls 911 or the Rumson Police
for a medical emergency, we are the ones who respond, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days of the year.
We provide residents with basic life support (BLS) and medical services and provide ambulance transportation
to area hospitals. If an illness or injury is life threatening, advanced life support (ALS) is also provided by paramedics.
When you call 911 the call goes to the Monmouth County Dispatch System, which contacts the
Rumson Police dispatcher who alerts the Rumson First Aid Squad. In cases of potentially life threatening
illnesses or injuries paramedics from MONOC are also simultaneously dispatched and provide advanced
life support. The Rumson First Aid Squad's members carry pagers that alert them to the nature and
location of the call. Except for first line EMS officers the first aid squad members who are available
meet at the Squad building and go to the location of the call via ambulance, arriving at the scene within
minutes. The Rumson Police will almost always be the first to arrive at any emergency call.
