What we do:
The mission of the Rumson First Aid Squad is to insure the immediate availability of quality
emergency care, health preparedness, and access to injury prevention resources in accordance
with established Federal, State and County standards, to all the people in Rumson. We provide
excellent customer valued service in prevention, education, professional service and emergency response.
Our organization will be the provider of public safety services and First Aid in Rumson. Our Goal
is to earn overwhelming citizen satisfaction and community support and to develop a highly effective
and efficient public safety First Aid organization consisting of members of the Rumson community, all
of who are volunteer personnel.
Many of our Squad members are certified by the State of New Jersey as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
To achieve this distinction, EMTs undergo a rigorous 120-hour training course and have to pass a demanding
national test. We are trained in basic emergency care skills, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation,
automated defibrillation, use of definitive airway adjuncts, oxygen therapy, first aid, splinting,
assisting patients with certain medications, and lifting and moving patients.
We never charge for our services. Our resources come from three sources:
- Voluntary contributions from Rumson residents and civic organizations;
- Funding from the Rumson Borough municipal government;
- Contribution of time and energy by the Squad membership, without pay.
